BIOTA Aquaculture Neon Blue Cleaner Goby
BIOTA Aquaculture Neon Blue Cleaner Goby
Elacatinus oceanops - The Biota captive bred Blue Neon Cleaner Goby, aka Neon Goby, is a small, hardy goby perfect for nano aquariums. This species is a facultative cleaner that will gently clean larger fish in your aquarium. They do not rely on cleaning large fish as a food source and will readily accept a wide range of foods like tiny pellet foods, frozen calanus, Hikari baby brine shrimp, and small chopped mysis. They can also live in nano tanks or species only tanks without fish to clean.
Neon gobies are difficult to sex reliably. It's best to keep a single goby or a mated pair. Larger aquariums with plenty of rock work for territories may be able to support larger groups of these, but they can be expected to quarrel, and a larger dominant male can be very aggressive with other Neon Gobies. These are peaceful toward non-conspecifics and completely reef safe with all coral and ornamental inverts. Most larger species will recognize them as cleaners, but it's best to avoid keeping these with aggressive species. We recommend introducing new fish with an acclimation box.
Captive bred Neon Gobies tend to be much hardier than their wild caught counterparts, which are often suffering with parasites when they arrive at your local aquarium shop. This species is short-lived, so choosing captive bred Neon Gobies is a wise choice so you know you're receiving a young specimen.
