Surinamensis Geophagus

The geophagus surinamensis are naturally sand sifters as they will pick up the substrate in their aquarium and sift it through their gills in search of food. These fish produce a lot of waste and dirty the aquarium quickly so regular maintenance is a must. They only get more attractive with age.
