American Flag Fish (Jordanella floridae)
Jordanella floridae is a killifish relative native to Florida wetlands, and the red-white-blue banding that earns the patriotic common name is genuinely just how the species colors up, no dye or selective breeding required. What makes it worth stocking beyond the novelty is a real appetite for hair algae and black beard algae, two of the more stubborn nuisance algae that most algae-eating fish won't touch. Mostly peaceful, though it can nip at very slow, long-finned tankmates if the tank's too small for it to ignore them.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Mostly peaceful · Max size: ~2.5" · Min tank: 20 gal · Diet: Omnivore, algae + flake/pellet
