Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi)
Not a color morph of the neon tetra at all, Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi is a distinct species from the same Amazon blackwater systems, sporting a solid black horizontal band under a narrower iridescent stripe instead of neon's full-length red-blue split. That darker band reads as far more dramatic over a black substrate, especially in a tight shoal where the contrast lines up fish to fish. Every bit as easy and peaceful as its more famous cousin.
