Black Volitan Lionfish (Pterois volitans)

Volitan Lionfish are the species responsible for one of the most notorious invasions in modern marine history — accidentally introduced to the Atlantic, where they've devastated reef fish populations with an appetite that doesn't quit and zero natural predators to check them. This is a black color morph, all the same deeply venomous spines and feathery, fan-like fins used to corner prey against rock. In your tank it just means a striking, low-maintenance predator that will eat anything smaller than itself without hesitation — plan tankmates accordingly.
