Bloodfin Tetra (Aphyocharax anisitsi)
Aphyocharax anisitsi comes from cooler southern South American rivers than most tropical tetras, which is exactly why it tolerates a wider temperature swing and a less-established tank better than most of its Amazonian cousins. The bright red fins against a plain silver body are a straightforward, high-contrast look that doesn't need special lighting to pop. One of the more forgiving schooling fish you can start a tank with.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~2" · Min tank: 15 gal · Diet: Omnivore, flake/pellet
