Blue Eye Pleco
That pale-blue eye isn't pigment at all — like blue coloring in butterfly wings or a blue jay's feathers, it's structural color, produced by microscopic structures in the iris scattering light at just the wavelength that reads as blue to us, rather than any blue pigment actually being present. It's a sizeable pleco as an adult, so factor in real long-term tank space from the start. A striking centerpiece pleco we regularly recommend to larger-tank customers around New Milford.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful · Max size: ~10" · Min tank: 75 gal · Diet: Omnivore, algae wafers/veggies
