"Bocón" is Spanish for big-mouthed, and this catfish earns the nickname honestly — a wide, gaping mouth built to engulf prey whole rather than chew it, standard equipment for a nocturnal ambush predator that relies on suction and surprise over speed. By day it tucks into a cave or shadowed corner; the mouth only really goes to work once the lights are off.
