Clown Triggerfish (Balistoides conspicillum)
Clown Triggerfish are the reason "don't judge a fish by its face" exists — that goofy yellow-lipped, polka-dot grin belongs to one of the most territorial animals in the hobby, a fish that will happily rearrange rockwork and challenge anything that enters its zip code. The jaw behind that grin is built to crush sea urchins and shelled invertebrates whole, backed by teeth that never stop growing to keep up with the wear. Smart, food-motivated, and fully capable of recognizing you as the one with the shrimp — strictly a solitary, one-per-tank kind of fish.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Aggressive · Max size: ~20" · Min tank: 180+ gal · Diet: Carnivore, meaty foods including shell-on foods
