Distichodus Lusosso
Distichodus teeth are fused into a comb-like ridge built specifically for rasping algae and plant matter off rock and wood — more scraper than biter, which is exactly why a large group of them can make short work of a heavily planted tank. Bold vertical striping helps juveniles disappear against reed beds, though that camouflage becomes far less necessary once the fish grows into the serious adult size this species is known for.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful · Max size: ~28" · Min tank: 180+ gal (adult) · Diet: Omnivore, algae + veggies + pellets
