Fissidens fontanus, or Phoenix moss, is a fine freshwater moss that grows in tight, feathery fronds resembling little green ferns, clinging beautifully to wood and rock. It's slower and more compact than Java moss, making it prized for detailed aquascaping and shrimp-tank cover. Tie or glue it to hardscape and let it slowly knit into a lush carpet.
