Flame Cardinalfish

Same mouthbrooding family as the Atlantic Flame, but this one comes from Indo-Pacific reefs and carries an even deeper orange-red wash. Males fast for roughly a week while brooding a mouthful of eggs, which makes feeding time an easy way to tell which fish in a shoal just spawned — he's the one hanging back.
