Freshwater Redtail Barracuda
True barracuda are marine fish in an entirely different lineage, so this freshwater lookalike arrived at the same elongated body and underslung, snapping jaw completely independently — a case of two unrelated predators converging on the same efficient ambush blueprint from opposite ends of the fish family tree. Despite the fierce profile it's a genuine schooler, more comfortable moving in a loose group than patrolling alone.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling (predatory to small fish) · Max size: ~16" · Min tank: 90+ gal · Diet: Carnivore, live/frozen foods
