Heniochus Diphreutes
Often sold as the "false Moorish Idol," Heniochus diphreutes is easy to mix up with its close relative H. acuminatus, but it schools far more readily, forming loose aggregations in open water rather than sticking to a single reef patch. That trailing dorsal streamer and bold black-and-white banding do the same visual trick as the real Moorish Idol, warning off predators that would rather not test a shape they don't recognize. Hardier and more forgiving than most butterflyfish, especially when kept in a small group.
