Imported Dwarf Gourami (Trichogaster lalius) - Male
Trichogaster lalius males carry the species' signature red-and-blue diagonal striping in full color, a pattern females never develop, making this one of the more clear-cut sexually dimorphic gouramis in the trade. It's worth knowing that mass-farmed dwarf gourami imports have historically dealt with a viral condition sometimes called dwarf gourami disease, so a visible quarantine period before adding one to a display tank is a genuinely good habit here specifically. Given a clean bill of health, it's a small, vividly colored, low-footprint centerpiece.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, semi-territorial with own kind · Max size: ~3.5" · Min tank: 15 gal · Diet: Omnivore, flake/pellet + frozen
