Mosaic Knife Fish
This knifefish's finely reticulated, mosaic-like scale pattern is built for hiding in structure rather than open water — a flooded forest or root-tangle specialist where breaking up a long, uniform body outline against a busy background matters more than open-water speed. Like its Notopterid relatives it relies on one long undulating anal fin for all its propulsion, letting it reverse out of tight cover as easily as it went in.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful, territorial with own kind · Max size: ~20" · Min tank: 100+ gal (adult) · Diet: Carnivore, live/frozen foods
