Pink Kissing Gourami (Helostoma temminckii)
Helostoma temminkii's "kissing" isn't affection, it's a dominance contest, two males lock lips and shove against each other to establish a pecking order, the same behavioral category as antler-locking deer minus the antlers. Those same thick, muscular lips do double duty grazing algae and biofilm off flat surfaces in a planted tank. It also grows a lot larger than the pale pink color and gentle name suggest, easily reaching a foot in a well-fed adult, so plan real tank size ahead of time.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Semi-aggressive with own kind · Max size: ~12" · Min tank: 55 gal · Diet: Omnivore, algae + flake/pellet
