Rayaque Tiger Shovelnose (Pseudoplatystoma sp.)
Tiger shovelnose catfish pair a striking black-striped coat with the flattened, elongated snout typical of the group — a combination that makes for one of the most recognizable predatory catfish in the hobby. It stays a manageable size as a juvenile, but this is a genuine giant in the making, and tank planning should start well before it needs the room. Not a casual weekend purchase for most New Milford-area setups.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful, predatory to small fish · Max size: ~36"+ · Min tank: 300+ gal (adult) · Diet: Carnivore, live/frozen foods
