Nerite snails are basically incapable of breeding in freshwater — the larvae need brackish water to develop, so a nerite in your tank will lay eggs that just never hatch, no unwanted population boom to manage. The red onion pattern is one of the more striking nerite variants, striped like its namesake vegetable and just as tireless on algae.

Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful · Max size: ~1" · Min tank: 5 gal · Diet: Herbivore, algae
