Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus)
The Regal Angelfish might be the single most vividly patterned fish in this store — bold blue, black, orange, and white banding that looks almost too precise to be real. It also has a reputation as one of the pickier eaters in the marine angelfish world, since wild individuals feed heavily on sponges and tunicates that don't exist in a home aquarium; we always confirm ours are eating prepared foods well before they go home. A rewarding but genuinely advanced-keeper fish.
Care level: Difficult · Temperament: Semi-aggressive · Max size: ~10" · Min tank: 100+ gal · Diet: Omnivore, marine algae + sponge-based foods
