S.A. Gold Spot Lungfish (Lepidosiren paradoxa)
South American lungfish take dry-season survival to an extreme most fish never approach: burrowing into mud and secreting a mucus cocoon around themselves, they can enter a dormant state called aestivation and survive for months with essentially no water at all, breathing air through a pair of true lungs the whole time. It's one of the most dramatic survival adaptations in the entire animal kingdom, let alone the aquarium trade.
