Salvinia Minima

Salvinia minima is a floating fern whose paired, oval leaves are coated in tiny water-repellent hairs that keep them dry and buoyant. It spreads quickly across the surface into a soft green mat that shades the tank and pulls nutrients from the water, helping to starve out algae. Its dangling roots make excellent cover for fry and shelter for surface-dwelling fish.
