Silver Dollar
Metynnis and Myleus silver dollars sit in family Serrasalmidae right alongside the piranha, sharing a similar tooth shape built for shredding rather than tearing flesh, evolutionary cousins that took a strictly herbivorous path instead. That plant-shredding dentition means live aquarium plants are genuinely at risk in this tank, a silver dollar will browse soft-leaved species down to stubs given the chance. Peaceful with tankmates and best kept in a real group, just plan the tank's plant choices, or lack of them, around that appetite.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~6" · Min tank: 55 gal · Diet: Herbivore, veggies + flake/pellet
