Silvertip Tetra (Hasemania nana)
Hasemania nana is missing something every other tetra on this list has: an adipose fin. It's a small taxonomic quirk, that little fleshy nub between the dorsal and tail that most characins carry, simply absent here, one of the easier ways to tell this species apart from lookalikes at a glance. The bright white fin tips against a plain silver body need no special lighting to read clearly across a tank. Easy, peaceful, and a solid mixed-school addition.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~2.25" · Min tank: 20 gal · Diet: Omnivore, flake/pellet
