Smooth Sided Toad (Rhaebo guttatus)
Rhaebo guttatus breaks the usual toad rulebook — most of its warty relatives evolved rough, dry skin, but this Amazonian giant went the other direction with a smooth, glossy hide that gets it mistaken for an oversized frog constantly. Don't let the good looks fool you: the parotoid glands behind its eyes secrete a potent bufotoxin, so admire from a distance and always wash up after handling. Slow-moving and mostly nocturnal, it's happiest parked near a water dish, doing as little as possible.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Solitary, docile · Max size: ~7" · Min enclosure: 20 gal terrarium · Diet: Carnivore, appropriately-sized insects/rodents
