Striped Raphael Catfish (Platydoras armatulus)

This striped raphael shares the genus's signature party trick: grinding a modified pectoral spine against its socket to produce an audible croak, loud enough to catch first-time keepers off guard. The same spine locks rigid on contact, making this armored little catfish a genuinely tough bite for anything that tries to swallow it.
