True Falcula Butterflyfish (Chaetodon falcula)

The "falcula" in this butterflyfish's name means little sickle, a nod to the crescent-shaped dark markings curving across a soft yellow-and-white body. Two bold saddle patches break up its outline against the reef, a camouflage trick shared across much of the Chaetodon genus. Peaceful and reasonably adaptable, it's one of the gentler butterflyfish for a mixed community.
