Same Serrasalmidae family tree as the piranha and the same shredding-style dentition turned entirely toward plant matter, just carried on a color line with broader, more defined vertical barring than the plainer standard silver dollar. Every bit as committed a plant-browser as its relatives, so live aquatic plants need to be an afterthought in this tank's stocking plan, not a centerpiece. Peaceful with tankmates and best kept in a real group.
