Whiptail Catfish
Whiptail catfish take the twig-catfish body plan and push it further, with a long, tapering caudal filament trailing off a flattened, armored body that looks more like a piece of bark than a fish. That flattened profile isn't just camouflage — it lets them wedge into tight crevices and press flat against surfaces while grazing biofilm, staying nearly motionless for long stretches to avoid drawing attention from predators.
