Yellow Leaf Scorpionfish (Taenianotus triacanthus)
Leaf Scorpionfish don't hide from predators, they impersonate a piece of drifting algae — rocking gently side to side with the current and holding almost perfectly still for days at a time, ambushing anything unlucky enough to swim within striking range. It can slowly shift its color over the course of weeks to better match its surroundings, and like its lionfish cousins it carries venomous spines, so it should be handled with the same respect. A genuinely bizarre, low-activity centerpiece for a patient keeper.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful, ambush predator · Max size: ~4" · Min tank: 20+ gal · Diet: Carnivore, live/frozen meaty foods
