Yellow Ruffled Ridge Plate Coral
Like other free-living plate corals, this one spends its life unattached to rock, resting directly on the sand where it can use its own tissue to flip itself back over if it ever gets knocked upside down. The ruffled, deeply ridged edge is more than decorative — it increases surface area for both zooxanthellae and passive feeding, and it's part of what makes this species easy to tell apart from smoother plate corals at a glance. Bright yellow against sand makes for a solid contrast piece low in the tank.
Care level: Easy · Light/Flow/Placement: Low-moderate light, low-moderate flow, sand bed · Max size: 4-6" disc · Diet: Photosynthetic, benefits from occasional meaty feeding
