Atabapo Pleco L052

L-numbers like the "052" tacked onto this pleco's name come from a German aquarium magazine system started in the 1980s, created specifically because so many Loricariid plecos were entering the trade faster than taxonomists could formally describe and name them. Decades later, plenty of L-numbered plecos — this one included — still don't have an official scientific name, just a catalog number and a lot of hobbyist word-of-mouth. A fun one for local pleco collectors around New Milford to add to a growing L-number lineup.
