Atabapo Pleco

Named for the Atabapo River, a striking blackwater tributary of the Orinoco known for water so tannin-stained and mineral-poor it runs almost coffee-dark, this slender striped pleco comes from exactly the kind of soft, acidic water that description implies. It grazes algae and biofilm off wood and rock at an unhurried pace, at home tucked into a cave or piece of driftwood most of the day.
