Banana Plant (Nymphoides Aquatica)
The Banana Plant (Nymphoides aquatica) is a novelty favorite, named for the cluster of banana-shaped tubers at its base that store energy for the plant. From these it sends up long-stemmed, heart-shaped leaves that will drift to the surface if left untrimmed. Simply rest the tubers on the substrate rather than burying them, and enjoy an easy, conversation-starting centerpiece.
Care level: Easy · Placement: Foreground/Midground · Lighting: Low-Medium · CO2: Not required · Growth rate: Slow · Propagation: plantlets (on leaves)
