Brightwell Aquatics Xport NO3 is a sintered biological filter media engineered specifically to support the anaerobic bacteria that perform denitrification — converting nitrate to nitrogen gas and permanently removing it from the system. Most conventional bio-media only supports aerobic nitrification (ammonia → nitrate), leaving you with ever-accumulating nitrate that water changes alone can remove. Xport NO3 is dense enough that its interior stays anaerobic even with water flowing past the exterior, which is the condition denitrifying bacteria require. Load it into a dedicated reactor or a low-flow section of your sump for maximum residence time and colonization.
