Broadstripe Cardinalfish
Cardinalfish run one of the more committed parenting setups on the reef: after spawning, the male scoops the entire clutch of fertilized eggs into his mouth and carries them there for roughly a week, fasting the whole time, until the fry are developed enough to swim free. The Broadstripe wears a single bold stripe nose to tail and, like most cardinals, prefers to shoal loosely rather than patrol alone.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~4" · Min tank: 30 gal · Diet: Carnivore, meaty foods
