Croaking Gourami (Trichopsis vittata)
Trichopsis vittata is one of the only fish that makes a sound you can actually hear without a hydrophone, males produce an audible croak using specialized pectoral fin muscles during courtship, a genuinely rare trait in fish where most species that make sound do it well below human hearing range. It stays small and unassuming compared to the showier gouramis, more personality than looks. A fun, easy labyrinth fish worth keeping just to catch that sound in person.
