Crowntail Female Betta (Betta splendens)
The crowntail mutation isn't sex-linked, so females carry the same receded-webbing trait as the males, just working with the shorter, less dramatic finnage that female bettas grow overall. That means the spiking shows up more as a texture along the fin edge than the crown-like fan you get on a flaring male. Females tolerate their own kind far better than males do, but a sorority still needs enough space and cover to let a pecking order settle without one fish getting cornered.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful (semi-aggressive in groups) · Max size: ~2.5" · Min tank: 5 gal (10+ for a sorority) · Diet: Carnivore, betta pellets + frozen
