Daisy's Ricefish (Oryzias woworae)
Ricefish belong to the same genus, Oryzias, as the medaka — a fish with a surprising résumé in genetics and space research, including a stint as one of the first vertebrates to successfully mate and lay eggs in zero gravity aboard a 1994 space shuttle mission. This particular ricefish keeps things considerably more grounded, hovering near the surface of a calm, planted tank with a subtle shimmer that shows best under gentle lighting.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~1.5" · Min tank: 10 gal · Diet: Omnivore, small flake/micro foods
