Distichodus Sexfasciatus

Six bold vertical bars give this Distichodus its species name, sexfasciatus, and like its relatives it carries the genus's signature comb-shaped teeth for rasping algae and plant matter rather than biting prey. Red-tinted fins add a sharp visual contrast to the striping, though as with any Distichodus the eventual adult size demands real tank planning well before the fish gets there.
