Ember (Red) Tetra (Hyphessobrycon amandae)
Hyphessobrycon amandae wasn't formally described until 1987, late for a fish this recognizable, and it stays among the smallest true tetras in the trade, barely three-quarters of an inch at full size. That tiny frame is packed with a saturated orange-red that reads as a genuine glow against green plants rather than just a pale wash. Built for a nano tank specifically, a school of these in a densely planted setup is one of the best small-scale displays in the hobby.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~0.75" · Min tank: 10 gal · Diet: Omnivore, micro-pellet/flake
