Galactic Purple GLO Tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi)
The fluorescent gene behind this tetra's color started out in zebrafish bred as pollution biosensors, borrowed from jellyfish or coral DNA and inserted to make toxin exposure visible under UV before the same modification became a commercial pet in the early 2000s. Here it expresses as a deep electric purple, a genuine heritable trait rather than a surface treatment. Easy, peaceful, and a striking addition to a mixed GloFish school.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~1.5" · Min tank: 15 gal · Diet: Omnivore, flake/micro-pellet
