Galaxy Rasbora (Danio margaritatus)
Danio margaritatus wasn't described to science until 2006, and within about a year of its discovery in a single Myanmar wetland, demand from the aquarium trade got intense enough that conservationists raised real concern about wild collection pressure on a species with an extremely limited range. It's a genuine taxonomic mix-up too, despite the common name it's actually a danio, not a rasbora, star-like white speckling over a dark body giving it the name either way. Best appreciated in a quiet, densely planted nano tank where that speckled pattern actually shows.
Care level: Moderate · Temperament: Peaceful, shoaling · Max size: ~0.75" · Min tank: 10 gal · Diet: Omnivore, micro-pellet/flake
