Gold Bar Wrasse (Thalassoma hebraicum)
The gold bar running down its flank makes this wrasse easy to pick out mid-swim, and swim it does — wrasses like this one cover more reef real estate per day than almost any other fish in the tank, patrolling constantly for anything small and unlucky enough to be exposed. It dives straight into the sand bed at lights-out and whenever startled, popping back up minutes or hours later like nothing happened. A hardy, active hunter that will happily clean up pest snails and bristleworms along the way.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Semi-aggressive · Max size: ~8" · Min tank: 75 gal, sand bed · Diet: Carnivore, meaty foods
