Gold Crowntail Betta (Betta splendens)

Drop a metallic gold guanine layer onto a crowntail body plan and you get a betta that looks like hammered brass under the right lighting, spiky fin rays included. It's the same wild Betta splendens underneath, just generations of selective breeding removed from the plain olive-brown fish that actually lives in Thai rice paddies. Solo housing, no exceptions with males.
