Gulper Catfish (Asterophysus batrachus)

Gulper catfish are built almost entirely around one structure: an enormous, hinge-wide mouth capable of engulfing prey that looks disproportionate to the rest of the body. It's an ambush strategy start to finish — lie motionless, let something wander within striking range, and let that oversized mouth do the rest.
