Lima Shovelnose Catfish (Sorubim lima)

Sorubim catfish carry one of the flattest, most elongated heads in the entire family, an adaptation for hugging tight to the substrate while scanning for prey overhead. The shovel-shaped snout works almost like a dinner plate turned hunting tool, snapping shut the instant something edible drifts within range.
