Male Dumbo Ear Betta (Betta splendens)
"Dumbo ear" is hobbyist shorthand for oversized pectoral fins, the pair a betta uses for fine steering and hovering in place rather than forward thrust, which comes mostly from the caudal fin. On this variety they're bred out to nearly the size of the head itself, giving him a distinctive silhouette even before he flares. Keep him alone, males don't read those big pectorals as anything but a rival's display.
Care level: Easy · Temperament: Aggressive toward other bettas · Max size: ~3" · Min tank: 5 gal · Diet: Carnivore, betta pellets + frozen
