Multicolor Zoanthid Rock
Every polyp on this rock is a genetically identical clone, budded off the same founding polyp and connected by a shared mat of tissue — colonial anatomy that lets zoanthids carpet a rock this densely in the first place. The mixed color morphs here open and close on their own schedule, giving the whole piece a slightly staggered, breathing look rather than everything popping at once. One housekeeping note worth taking seriously: zoanthids can carry palytoxin, among the most potent non-protein toxins known, so gloves during handling or fragging are just good lab practice.
Care level: Easy · Light/Flow/Placement: Low-moderate light, low-moderate flow, bottom-to-mid tank · Max size: Colonial, spreads across the rock over time · Diet: Photosynthetic, benefits from fine particulate feeding
