Panther Grouper (Cromileptes altivelis)

Panther Groupers get sold small and cute more often than any responsible fish should, with that odd humped, small-mouthed profile making it look almost harmless. It isn't — anything that fits in that mouth eventually becomes food, and this species is one of the most commonly surrendered saltwater fish once owners realize a 'small' grouper doesn't stay that way. We only sell these to keepers who already have the eventual giant tank lined up.
